Shuffling around the small room, I put my books in bag and began checking everything I had packed to make sure that I wasn't missing anything. With a sigh, Samail plopped herself on the bed next to all my things as she asked,"Do you have to go back?"
Smiling at her, I ruffled her hair before nodding my head as I admitted,"I only came back for Dad. Now, I need to get back to school and work," she nodded in agreement before grabbing a small photo album I carried with me everywhere I went.
Flipping through it she froze for a second before turning the album towards me as she asked,"Who is this," confused I looked up from the clothes I was folding before smiling fondly as I grabbed it,"That-that is Adam. He is a very, very good friend of mine."
Smirking, she grabbed it back as she asked,"How long have you two known each-other," I looked at the ceiling as I mentally counted the years in my head and then whistled softly as I said,"10 years. We met in our first year of middle school. From then on, we were inseparable." She laughed a bit and I gently shoved her before telling her to grab me the rest of my things.
It took a while but we were finally able to leave the house and I let out a sigh of relief when I was finally in line ready to head into the airport. However, before I could leave my Mom grabbed my arm and seriously said,"Remember don't talk to strangers and always keep your bags by you. You can't trust anyone." I couldn't help the mental rolling of my eyes even as I nodded before giving her a hug.
She slightly tapped my back twice before moving away and leaving me with my Dad. Putting my bag on my shoulders I couldn't help but straighten up as my Dad walked forward and brought me in for a hug. "Love you, sweetheart. Be safe," he whispered as he gave me a kiss on the head and I smiled as I said,"Love you too, Baba." I stepped out of the hug and he pointed to me as he mock-seriously said,"Be safe." Not being able to help myself I smirked as I tossed back,"Only if you do, too." He tried to be serious but I saw the hint of a smile on his face as I walked into airport and checked in.
Though it took a while I was able to make it pass through security and get all the technicalities handles fairly quickly and settled into one of the seats as with my textbook in my lap. I used a pen to scan the words as I read them but tensed when someone covered my eyes. About to start a scene, I opened my mouth to yell but Adam's face quickly made its way into my line of sight.
With a teasing smile, he said,"Relax, it's just me." Slightly embarrassed I hit him on the arm before settling back down and picking up my text book except Adam seemed to strongly dislike the idea of me not giving him any attention as he grabbed my book and began reading it.
Pretending to be engrossed in the book he waved the pen he had also snatched from my hand in the air as he asked,"So, how was it? Did they like you?" Smirking, since he couldn't see my face I grabbed my textbook as I falsely smiled and agreed,"Absolutely. I mean how could they not love me. Wedding is in a month. You'll be there right?"
I could tell he was becoming angry by the way the vein in his neck bulged as his hands flexed from where they were in his lap. Grabbing my textbook, he slumped in the chair as he mumbled,"I'll probably be busy," rolling my eyes I grabbed the textbook and put it on my duffel bag before putting my elbow on the arm rest and looking at him.
Opening his mouth to protest he seemed to think better of it as I raised an eyebrow and chose to remain silent instead. Grabbing one of his hands in mine, I interlocked out fingers before whispering,"I was joking, you know that." He still looked a bit upset so I placed a small kiss on his hand and he couldn't keep the smile from showing up on his face. Pulling me closer to him, he put his forehead against mine as he admitted,'I don't like this."
Agreeing, I opened my mouth to say something but an old women showed up and cooed at us before asking,"You two are so sweet. How long have you been married?" Adam let go of me as he sat up and I chose to take the bullet this time as I admitted,"We- um- we are not married." As if a ghost possessed her she began flapping her arms all over the place and both of us moved back to avoid getting hit in the face.
"The youth of these days. How horrible. What must your parents think,"she mumbled other things but I got the gist of it as she kept on speaking until an older man came up to us and gently led her away. He apologized profusely and both Adam and I nodded our heads to show that we were okay before laughing once they were out of sight.
"That was so weird," he laughed as he grabbed my hand and interlocked our fingers again.
